EBOKIO Effective Date: 12 July 2026 Last Updated: 12 July 2026 Version: 1.0
Company: EBOKIO LTD, a private limited company registered in England and Wales
Applies to: www.ebokio.com, publishing.ebokio.com, and related services operated by EBOKIO LTD
1. Scope and Purpose
This Content Policy governs all content submitted to, uploaded to, listed on, distributed through, sold through, displayed on, or otherwise made available by means of the EBOKIO LTD platform, including without limitation ebooks, digital publications, cover images, metadata, descriptions, author profiles, promotional text, sample chapters, embedded media, and any related materials (collectively, Content).
This Content Policy forms part of the contractual terms governing use of the Platform. By submitting, uploading, publishing, distributing, or maintaining any Content on the Platform, each author, publisher, rights holder, distributor, account holder, or other submitting party (a Publisher, as defined in section 2) agrees to comply fully and continuously with this Content Policy.
EBOKIO LTD operates as a private platform and reserves the right, acting reasonably and subject to mandatory law, to determine whether any Content is acceptable for publication, sale, distribution, continued availability, promotion, or indexing on the Platform.
2. Interpretation
For the purposes of this Content Policy:
- Platform means the website, applications, systems, services, databases, distribution channels, and related infrastructure operated by or on behalf of EBOKIO LTD.
- Publisher means any person or entity that uploads, submits, distributes, offers, edits, manages, licenses, or controls Content on the Platform.
- Content includes all text, images, illustrations, photographs, audio, video, metadata, keywords, categories, descriptions, titles, subtitles, series information, reviews submitted by the Publisher, and any other material associated with a listing or publication.
- AI-generated Content means Content generated in whole or in substantial part through the use of artificial intelligence, machine learning, large language models, image generators, automated writing systems, or comparable technologies.
- Duplicate Content means Content that is identical, substantially similar, minimally altered, reformatted, translated without sufficient editorial transformation, repackaged, re-titled, cloned, repeated across multiple listings, or otherwise duplicative in substance or commercial presentation.
- User-Generated Content means reviews, ratings, comments, voice review recordings, messages, reports, feedback, profile text, or other content submitted by users outside a seller listing.
Sections 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, and 10 of this Content Policy apply to User-Generated Content as they apply to Content. Sections 6 and 7 apply only to Content submitted by a Publisher in connection with a listing or publication.
- Illegal Content Report means a notice alleging that Content or User-Generated Content is unlawful, infringes rights, or breaches this Content Policy.
- AI-assisted Content means Content where artificial intelligence tools supported drafting, editing, translation, summarisation, metadata creation, cover generation, research, formatting, or other production steps, but where a human author or editor made a substantial creative, editorial, factual, and rights-clearance contribution.
3. General Standard
All Content made available on the Platform must:
- be lawful in the United Kingdom and in any jurisdiction in which the Publisher makes the Content available;
- be original, properly licensed, or otherwise used with full legal authority;
- be accurate in its metadata and presentation;
- meet reasonable editorial, technical, and commercial quality standards;
- not infringe the rights of any third party;
- not be misleading, deceptive, manipulative, abusive, obscene, discriminatory, exploitative, or otherwise objectionable in the reasonable opinion of EBOKIO LTD.
Compliance with this Content Policy is an ongoing obligation. Approval, publication, listing, indexing, sale, or prior non-enforcement does not constitute a waiver, representation, or guarantee that any Content complies with this Content Policy or will remain on the Platform.
4. Prohibited Content
The following Content is strictly prohibited and must not be uploaded, submitted, distributed, sold, promoted, or otherwise made available on the Platform.
4.1 Pornographic and Sexually Explicit Content

For the avoidance of doubt, this prohibition applies regardless of the sex, gender, sexual orientation, identity, or relationship status of any real or fictional persons depicted or described.
4.2 Child Sexual Exploitation and Minor Sexualisation
Any Content involving child sexual abuse material, child sexual exploitation, or the sexualisation of minors is strictly prohibited and will be removed immediately. This includes any real, fictional, illustrated, implied, simulated, or described sexual activity involving a person under 18 years of age or represented as being under 18 years of age.
Any attempt to sexualise minors, age-ambiguous characters likely to be perceived as minors, school-age characters, or persons described as underage is prohibited.
EBOKIO LTD may report such Content, related metadata, account details, transaction records, and associated technical information to law enforcement, regulators, hotlines, payment providers, hosting providers, or other competent authorities without notice.
4.3 Sexual Violence and Non-Consensual Sexual Content
Content that depicts, promotes, glorifies, eroticises, trivialises, encourages, or commercially exploits rape, sexual assault, coercion, sexual abuse, forced sexual acts, drug-facilitated sexual activity, trafficking, or other non-consensual sexual conduct is prohibited.
4.4 Obscene, Extreme, or Grossly Offensive Content
Content that is obscene, grossly offensive, extreme, degrading, or otherwise likely to violate applicable law or expose EBOKIO LTD, its service providers, users, or commercial partners to legal, regulatory, payment, reputational, or operational risk is prohibited.
4.5 Hate, Harassment, and Discriminatory Abuse
Content is prohibited where it:
- promotes, encourages, or glorifies hatred, violence, or discrimination against any person or group;
- targets persons on the basis of race, colour, ethnic or national origin, nationality, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, disability, age, or other protected characteristic;
- contains abusive slurs, dehumanising language, or calls for exclusion, mistreatment, violence, or suppression of civil rights;
- encourages harassment, intimidation, or abuse of individuals or groups.
4.6 Violence, Criminality, and Dangerous Content
Prohibited Content includes Content that:
- instructs, facilitates, or meaningfully promotes criminal conduct;
- provides operational guidance for serious violence, terrorism, unlawful weapons use, or violent wrongdoing;
- encourages self-harm, suicide, or serious bodily harm;
- promotes human trafficking, sexual exploitation, fraud, scams, or financial crime.
4.7 Illegal or Infringing Content
Publishers must not upload or distribute any Content that:
- infringes copyright, trade mark, database rights, moral rights, design rights, or other intellectual property rights;
- misappropriates confidential information, trade secrets, likeness rights, or personality rights;
- invades privacy or unlawfully discloses personal data;
- is defamatory, maliciously false, fraudulent, or deceptive;
- breaches any applicable law, regulation, court order, sanction, or legally binding obligation.
4.8 Misleading, Deceptive, or Manipulative Content
Publishers must not upload Content or metadata that is false, deceptive, spam-like, manipulative, or intended to mislead customers, search systems, reviewers, retailers, or business partners.
This includes:
- false author identities or false claims of authorship;
- misleading titles, subtitles, categories, or keywords;
- deceptive covers, descriptions, or sample pages;
- bait-and-switch publications;
- false claims regarding originality, awards, endorsements, or qualifications;
- manipulated or hidden metadata intended to game discovery systems.
4.9 Low-Quality, Empty, or Non-Substantive Content
EBOKIO LTD does not accept low-quality content that lacks genuine editorial substance or customer value.
This includes, without limitation:
- empty books or materially incomplete books;
- placeholder text, filler text, scraped text, auto-spun text, or content with no meaningful editorial contribution;
- books composed primarily of repetitive, duplicative, or nonsensical material;
- public domain or freely available material repackaged without substantial lawful value-add;
- books assembled solely to manipulate catalogue volume, search visibility, or commercial placement.
4.10 Fully AI-Written Content and AI Disclosure
EBOKIO LTD does not accept books or other written works generated wholly or substantially by artificial intelligence where the human role is negligible, perfunctory, or limited to prompting, formatting, superficial editing, or cover selection.
Accordingly, the following are prohibited:
- books, guides, stories, manuals, compilations, or other written works generated wholly by AI systems;
- content for which AI generated all or substantially all of the text and the human role was negligible, perfunctory, or limited to prompts, formatting, superficial edits, or cover selection;
- mass-produced AI-created books uploaded at scale;
- AI-generated content presented as original human-authored work where that representation is false or misleading.
EBOKIO LTD may, acting reasonably and subject to mandatory law, request evidence of human authorship, editorial development, source files, revision history, research records, or other documentation reasonably required to assess authenticity and originality.
AI-assisted Content may be considered only where the Publisher discloses the use of AI tools and confirms that a human author, translator, editor, designer, or rights holder made a substantial and accountable contribution.
Publishers must disclose, where requested by EBOKIO LTD or required by the listing process, whether AI tools were used for writing, translation, summarisation, research assistance, metadata, cover art, illustrations, narration, formatting, or other material production steps.
EBOKIO LTD may request prompts, drafts, source files, editorial records, rights documentation, human-review notes, licences for AI-generated assets, or other evidence reasonably necessary to assess originality, legality, accuracy, and customer transparency.
AI-assisted Content must not mislead customers, impersonate real authors, fabricate credentials, infringe third-party rights, reproduce protected works without permission, or evade this Content Policy through automated rewriting, translation, or republication.
4.11 Duplicate, Repetitive, and Clone Content
EBOKIO LTD does not accept duplicate content.
Prohibited duplication includes:
- multiple listings of the same book or substantially the same book;
- the same manuscript issued repeatedly under different titles, covers, subtitles, pen names, or metadata without genuine substantive distinction;
- near-duplicate translations, summaries, compilations, or reformatted editions lacking meaningful editorial differentiation or lawful basis;
- serialised fragmentation of one work into multiple products for artificial catalogue inflation;
- copied, cloned, or minimally modified content sourced from third parties, public repositories, prior listings, or the Publisher's own previously submitted content.
EBOKIO LTD shall determine, in its reasonable discretion, whether Content is duplicate, substantially similar, repetitive, or commercially abusive.
5. Restricted and Reviewable Content
Certain categories of Content may be subject to enhanced review, age-gating, restriction, de-indexing, reduced discoverability, refusal, or removal where EBOKIO LTD considers such action appropriate.
This may include, without limitation:
- mature literary works containing limited non-pornographic sexual references;
- sensitive factual works discussing crime, abuse, war, or trauma in a legitimate educational, historical, journalistic, or literary context;
- controversial political, religious, philosophical, or social commentary;
- medical, psychological, or legal material requiring careful and accurate presentation.
Nothing in this section obliges EBOKIO LTD to allow any such Content. Any permission, limitation, or restriction is entirely discretionary.
6. Metadata, Covers, and Promotional Materials
This Content Policy applies equally to the book itself and to all associated materials, including covers, thumbnails, titles, subtitles, descriptions, author names, pen names, biographies, keywords, categories, preview pages, landing pages, bundled assets, and external promotional claims connected to the listing.
Publishers must ensure that all such materials are lawful, accurate, non-infringing, non-pornographic, non-deceptive, and consistent with the actual nature of the Content.
EBOKIO LTD may reject Content where the associated metadata or promotional presentation is itself in breach of this Content Policy, even if the main body text would not independently justify removal.
7. Publisher Warranties and Responsibilities
Each Publisher represents, warrants, and undertakes on a continuing basis that:
- it has all rights, licences, consents, permissions, and authorities necessary to upload, publish, distribute, market, and sell the Content;
- the Content complies with this Content Policy and all applicable laws and regulations;
- the Content does not infringe any third-party rights;
- the metadata and all supporting materials are accurate and not misleading;
- the Content is not wholly AI-written;
- the Content is not duplicate, cloned, scraped, or otherwise commercially abusive;
- the Publisher will provide prompt, accurate, and complete information if EBOKIO LTD requests clarification, verification, or supporting documentation.
The Publisher remains solely responsible for the Content and for all legal, regulatory, tax, consumer, intellectual property, and commercial consequences arising from it.
8. Review, Investigation, and Enforcement
EBOKIO LTD may monitor, screen, review, investigate, assess, flag, or audit any Content, account, or activity at any time, with or without notice, using automated tools, manual review, third-party signals, complaints, risk analysis, or any combination thereof.
Where EBOKIO LTD suspects or determines that Content or conduct may breach this Content Policy, EBOKIO LTD may take any action it considers appropriate, including without limitation:
- refusing submission or publication;
- removing or disabling access to Content;
- suppressing search visibility or recommendations;
- reclassifying content or imposing age or visibility restrictions;
- suspending or terminating listings, payments, or accounts;
- withholding monies where permitted by law or contract pending investigation;
- requesting identity verification, rights documentation, or proof of authorship;
- reporting relevant matters to law enforcement, regulators, industry bodies, service providers, or payment partners.
EBOKIO LTD is not obliged to provide advance notice, an opportunity to cure, or compensation before taking enforcement action where it believes immediate action is necessary or desirable, except where notice or reasons are required by applicable law.
Where reasonably practicable and lawful, EBOKIO LTD will provide notice of material enforcement action and a summary of the reason for that action. EBOKIO LTD may act without prior notice where it reasonably considers immediate restriction, removal, evidence preservation, or reporting necessary to address illegal content, child safety, fraud, infringement, serious harm, security risk, payment risk, or regulatory obligations.
Nothing in this section excludes any right, remedy, appeal, regulatory complaint, data-protection right, consumer right, or court remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.
9. Notice-and-Action Procedure
Any person may report Content or User-Generated Content that they believe is illegal, infringing, harmful, deceptive, or in breach of this Content Policy by using any reporting tool made available on the Platform or by emailing legal@ebokio.com. Reports concerning customer support or refunds may also be sent to support@ebokio.com, and privacy-related reports may be sent to privacy@ebokio.com.
A report should, where possible, include the reporter's name and contact details, the URL or other identifier of the relevant Content, the legal or policy reason for the report, supporting evidence, whether urgent action is requested, and a good-faith statement that the information supplied is accurate to the reporter's knowledge.
EBOKIO LTD may reject or delay action on incomplete, abusive, duplicate, automated, bad-faith, or insufficiently substantiated reports, but may also act on a report without all requested information where the available information gives EBOKIO LTD sufficient knowledge or reason to believe that Content is illegal, unsafe, infringing, or in breach of this Policy.
Upon receiving a report, EBOKIO LTD may triage the matter, preserve relevant records, restrict visibility, disable access, suspend a listing or account, request further information, notify the relevant Publisher or user where lawful and appropriate, escalate to legal or compliance review, report to authorities or service providers, or take no action where the report is not substantiated.
Where EBOKIO LTD becomes aware of illegal content or credible information suggesting illegal content, it may act promptly to remove, disable, restrict, or otherwise reduce access to that content, subject to applicable law and proportionate operational review.
EBOKIO LTD may retain reports, review notes, moderation decisions, access logs, transaction records, metadata, communications, and technical evidence for as long as reasonably necessary for safety, compliance, fraud prevention, rights enforcement, dispute resolution, legal claims, regulatory obligations, and audit purposes, in accordance with the applicable EBOKIO privacy policy.
Intellectual property notices and counter-notices should be submitted to legal@ebokio.com and will be handled under the EBOKIO Copyright Notice and Takedown Policy, which sets out that procedure in full and prevails on rights-holder matters. A counter-notice or appeal does not require EBOKIO LTD to reinstate Content where it reasonably considers continued restriction necessary or lawful.
To the extent that the Online Safety Act 2023 or related UK safety duties apply to the Platform, EBOKIO LTD will maintain proportionate systems and records for illegal-content risk assessment, reporting, complaints handling, moderation decisions, and risk mitigation appropriate to the nature and scale of the Platform.
10. Complaints and Appeals
A Publisher, or a user whose User-Generated Content has been restricted, rejected, or removed, may submit a written appeal or clarification request. An appeal must normally be submitted within 30 days after notice of the decision, except where another EBOKIO policy specifies a different period for a particular decision, in which case that period applies. The appeal should be submitted in the form reasonably specified by EBOKIO LTD and should include all supporting evidence reasonably required. EBOKIO LTD will acknowledge and review appeals ordinarily within a few business days of receipt, although complex matters may take longer.
Submission of an appeal does not guarantee reinstatement, reversal, compensation, or continued availability of any Content. Where a restriction, rejection, or removal was made by solely automated means and produces a legal effect for you or similarly significantly affects you, you may request human intervention, express your point of view, obtain an explanation, and contest the decision, as described in the applicable EBOKIO privacy policy. EBOKIO LTD's decisions may be final for platform-operational purposes, but nothing in this Policy limits any statutory, contractual, regulatory, data-protection, consumer, or court remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded.
11. No Obligation to Publish
Nothing in this Content Policy or elsewhere obliges EBOKIO LTD to accept, host, publish, distribute, continue to distribute, promote, or sell any Content.
EBOKIO LTD may curate its catalogue according to its legal obligations, editorial standards, commercial strategy, risk tolerance, community standards, brand positioning, and operational requirements.
12. Relationship with Other Terms
This Content Policy shall be read together with the EBOKIO Terms of Service, the EBOKIO Publisher Agreement, the EBOKIO Privacy Policy, the EBOKIO Publishing Privacy Policy, the EBOKIO Cookie Policy, the EBOKIO Refund and Returns Policy, the EBOKIO Copyright Notice and Takedown Policy, and any other applicable contractual documents published by EBOKIO LTD.
For all matters concerning content standards, acceptance, publication, classification, moderation, reporting, restriction, removal, appeals, and catalogue eligibility, this Content Policy governs and prevails over any inconsistent wording in the Terms of Service or other supplemental policy, unless mandatory law requires otherwise. The EBOKIO Copyright Notice and Takedown Policy governs and prevails for rights-holder notices, takedown requests, counter-notices, evidence handling, and intellectual-property-related restriction decisions, unless mandatory law requires otherwise. The Privacy Policy, the Publishing Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, Refund and Returns Policy, and the Terms of Service govern their own subject matters to the extent they do not conflict with this Content Policy on content matters.
13. Amendments
EBOKIO LTD may amend, update, replace, supplement, or withdraw this Content Policy in accordance with the amendments procedure set out in clause 25 of the EBOKIO Terms of Service, by posting a revised version on the Platform or otherwise notifying users through reasonable means.
The latest version published by EBOKIO LTD shall apply from its stated effective date. Continued use of the Platform or continued availability of Content after such date shall constitute acceptance of the revised Content Policy, to the extent permitted by law. Nothing in this section affects your right, under clause 25.2A of the EBOKIO Terms of Service, to close your Account before a change takes effect, or any non-excludable statutory right.
14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
This Content Policy and any non-contractual obligations arising out of or in connection with it shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer rights that apply under the laws of your country of residence.
Any dispute, claim, or matter arising out of or in connection with this Content Policy is subject to the jurisdiction provisions set out in clause 26 of the EBOKIO Terms of Service, under which the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to the rights preserved there for consumers to rely on mandatory local law and to bring proceedings in the courts of their country of residence.
