Subscription Policy

EBOKIO Effective Date: 12 July 2026 Last Updated: 12 July 2026 Version: 1.0

Company: EBOKIO LTD, a private limited company registered in England and Wales

Applies to: publishing.ebokio.com (the publisher portal) and related services operated by EBOKIO LTD

This EBOKIO Subscription Policy (Publishing) (this “Policy”) sets out the terms of the Free, Premium, and Pro subscription plans for Publisher Accounts on the EBOKIO publishing platform, including the plan fees, the royalty rate applicable to each plan, the monthly AI Tool allowances, the publishing and author-profile limits, and the rules on billing, cancellation, downgrade, non-payment, and changes to plans.

This Policy forms part of, and must be read together with, the EBOKIO Publisher Agreement and the EBOKIO Terms of Service. Capitalised terms used but not defined in this Policy have the meanings given to them in the Publisher Agreement and the Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict between this Policy and the Publisher Agreement in respect of the publisher subscription plans, this Policy prevails for that subject matter.

This Policy applies to publisher/seller subscriptions only. The EBOKIO Plus subscription for readers is governed separately by clause 10.8 of the EBOKIO Terms of Service and the EBOKIO Household Terms.

1. The Subscription Plans

EBOKIO offers Publisher Accounts on three subscription plans — Free, Premium, and Pro. The plan you choose determines your royalty rate, your publishing limit, your monthly allowance of AI Tools, the number of cover variations available to you, and the number of author profiles you may maintain, as summarised in the table below. The plan on which your account is held from time to time is shown in your Publisher Account dashboard.

2. Fees and Billing

2.1 The Free Plan has no subscription fee. The Premium Plan and the Pro Plan are paid plans, and each is available on either a monthly or an annual billing period, which you select at checkout. Subscription fees include any applicable taxes: the fee shown is the total amount payable for that billing period, and nothing is added to it at checkout. The total amount payable is shown to you before you confirm your subscription. Where a reverse charge or similar mechanism applies so that EBOKIO does not account for tax on your subscription, the fee shown remains the amount payable and no tax is added to it. No separate payment-processing or transaction fee is charged to you.

2.2 The subscription fees for the paid plans are: the Premium Plan — £13.99 per month, or £139.90 per year; and the Pro Plan — £19.99 per month, or £199.90 per year. The annual fee is charged as a single payment covering a twelve (12) month period and is lower than the total of twelve monthly payments for the same plan. These fees are stated in pounds sterling and include any applicable taxes. Where you select a different currency, EBOKIO displays and charges the equivalent amount in that currency, converted at the rate applied at the time of the transaction and subject to any rounding required by that conversion; the total amount payable in your selected currency is shown to you at checkout before you confirm. Your bank or card issuer may apply its own conversion or cross-border charges, which are not charged by EBOKIO.

2.3 Paid subscription fees are billed in advance for the billing period you have selected (monthly or annual) and renew automatically at the start of each new billing period until you cancel. Where required by applicable law, EBOKIO will remind you before a renewal.

2.4 When you subscribe to a paid plan, you authorise EBOKIO and its payment processors to charge your saved payment method automatically for the applicable fees as they fall due, until the subscription or your authorisation is cancelled. Saved payment methods, card storage, and recurring billing are handled as described in clause 10.7 of the EBOKIO Terms of Service.

2.5 Changing your plan. A change of plan takes effect at the end of the billing period for which you have already paid: you cannot upgrade or downgrade in the middle of a billing period. Your current plan — and its royalty rate, AI Tool allowances, cover variations, and author-profile limits — continues to apply until the end of that period, and the new plan and its fee apply from the start of the next billing period. Because a plan change takes effect only at a renewal, EBOKIO does not pro-rate subscription fees. Where your account is on the Free Plan, which has no billing period, a paid plan begins when you subscribe.

3. Royalty Rate per Plan

3.1 For each paid sale of a Work to a customer through the Platform, your royalty is a percentage of the Net Receipts for that sale determined by your Subscription Plan at the time of the sale: seventy per cent (70%) on the Free Plan, eighty per cent (80%) on the Premium Plan, and ninety per cent (90%) on the Pro Plan. EBOKIO retains the remaining Net Receipts as its platform commission, being thirty per cent (30%), twenty per cent (20%), and ten per cent (10%) respectively.

3.2 Your current plan and royalty rate are shown in your Publisher Account dashboard. If your plan changes (including a move to the Free Plan under clause 7), the new rate applies to sales occurring after the change takes effect. The royalty rate is fixed by the plan in effect at the time of each sale and does not change retroactively.

3.3 Royalties are calculated on Net Receipts as defined in the Publisher Agreement, and are paid out in accordance with clause 7.4 (Payouts) of the Publisher Agreement. Any further tiered, promotional, or future changes to these percentages will be notified to you in your Publisher Account dashboard and will take effect in accordance with the amendments procedure in the EBOKIO Terms of Service.

3A. Taxes and VAT — Who Pays What

The price you set is the price the reader pays — converted into the reader's currency where applicable — and nothing is added on top at checkout, anywhere in the world. EBOKIO will not discount your Work or include it in a promotion without your prior consent (see clause 7.1A of the Publisher Agreement). Where a reader's country requires VAT or a similar tax on the sale, that tax is already included in that price at the rate applicable in the reader's own country (for example, ebooks are zero-rated in the United Kingdom and carry reduced rates in a number of other countries), and EBOKIO accounts for it as the Merchant of Record. Your royalty is your plan's percentage of the Net Receipts for the sale — the price less any such customer tax and the payment-processing fee — and it is paid to you in full: EBOKIO does not deduct or withhold tax from your royalties.

3A.1 Where EBOKIO is required by law to collect and remit VAT, GST, sales tax, or other applicable taxes on a customer's purchase of a Work, that tax is included in the retail price displayed to the customer, is calculated at the rate applicable in the customer's country, and is remitted by EBOKIO as the Merchant of Record. Such customer taxes are excluded from Net Receipts before your royalty percentage is applied, as described in clause 2 (Definitions) and clause 7.3 (Taxes) of the Publisher Agreement.

3A.2 Except where deduction or withholding is required by applicable law, EBOKIO does not deduct or withhold any tax from your royalties, and royalties are paid gross. You remain solely responsible for declaring and paying income tax, and any other tax that applies to you personally, on your royalty earnings in your own jurisdiction. Annual summary statements are available from your Publisher Account dashboard under Earnings.

3A.3 Tax rates are set by each country and can change, and the payment-processing fee varies slightly with the payment method. Any per-sale royalty figures shown in the publishing tools are therefore estimates only; the exact amount for each sale is recorded in your Earnings ledger at the time of sale.

4. Publishing and Author-Profile Limits

4.1 On the Free Plan you may have up to thirty (30) published Works and one (1) author profile. The Premium Plan allows an unlimited number of published Works and up to ten (10) author profiles, and the Pro Plan allows an unlimited number of published Works and an unlimited number of author profiles.

4.2 Holding several author profiles or pen names within your single Publisher Account is permitted in accordance with your Subscription Plan and does not amount to holding multiple accounts (see clause 4.4 of the Publisher Agreement).

4.3 The number of cover variations available per cover is one (1) on the Free Plan, up to two (2) on the Premium Plan, and up to four (4) on the Pro Plan.

5. AI Tool Allowances

5.1 The AI Cover generator and the AI Metadata Autofill tool are optional features subject to the monthly usage limits shown in the table in clause 1. The AI Metadata Autofill tool reads your manuscript and helps you fill in the title, description, categories, and keywords for a Work, and each autofill counts as one use of your AI Metadata Autofill allowance.

5.2 The Writing Studio is a book-planning workspace available on the Premium and Pro Plans only; it is not included in the Free Plan. It allows you to build a story bible (including characters and locations, a relationship map, and an act or chapter outline) and to set writing goals, and it includes Muse, an AI brainstorming assistant grounded in your story bible. Your use of the Writing Studio is subject to the monthly allowances shown in the table in clause 1: each interaction with Muse counts as one assist, and each character portrait you generate counts as one portrait.

5.3 The AI Author Co-pilot is a separate AI feature, available on the Pro Plan only; it is not included in the Free or Premium Plans. It is an assistant that can answer questions about your Works, your sales, and your manuscripts, and assist with matters such as pricing strategy, manuscript pacing, and comparable titles. The Co-pilot has its own separate monthly allowance, shown in the table in clause 1, and each message you send to the Co-pilot counts as one Co-pilot message. Co-pilot messages are not taken from, and do not affect, your AI Metadata Autofill allowance or any other AI Tool allowance.

5.4 AI Tool allowances are monthly allowances. They reset at the start of each month of your subscription — that is, on the monthly anniversary of the date your paid subscription started, or, where that day does not exist in a given month, on the last day of that month — whether you are billed monthly or annually, and any unused allowance does not carry over to a later month.

5.5 Covers, character portraits, images, metadata, outlines, and other text or material generated using the AI Tools (including the AI Author Co-pilot and Muse) are made available for you to use in connection with your Works. They are provided on an “as is” basis, without any warranty of any kind, including no warranty that they are original or free from third-party rights. You remain solely responsible for ensuring that every Work, cover, image, and item of metadata you publish complies with the EBOKIO Content Policy (including its AI-disclosure requirements) and does not infringe any third-party right. If you are a consumer, nothing in this clause excludes or limits the terms implied by the Consumer Rights Act 2015 as to satisfactory quality, fitness for purpose, and conformity with description, which apply in full.

6. Cancellation

6.1 You may cancel a paid Subscription Plan at any time from your Publisher Account dashboard, and cancellation will be at least as easy as signing up.

6.2 Apart from any statutory cancellation right under clause 6.3, cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period for which you have already paid — the current month if you are billed monthly, or the current twelve (12) month period if you are billed annually — after which your account moves to the Free Plan. Except where required by applicable law, subscription fees already paid are non-refundable for the remainder of the paid period. Cancelling your subscription is not the same as closing your Publisher Account: closing the account cancels the plan immediately under clause 14.2A of the EBOKIO Publisher Agreement, and the remainder of the period you have already paid for is lost. If you only want to stop future charges, cancel the plan rather than close the account.

6.3 Statutory cancellation rights. The publisher subscription plans are business services: they exist so that you can publish and sell Works commercially, and EBOKIO offers them on the basis that Publishers subscribe for purposes relating to their trade, business, craft, or profession. If, exceptionally, you are acting wholly or mainly outside those purposes and are therefore a consumer, you have a statutory right to cancel this subscription within 14 days of entering into it under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. Where that right applies and you asked EBOKIO to start the subscription during that 14-day period, you may be required to pay a proportionate amount for the service actually provided up to the moment you cancel, and EBOKIO will refund the balance. To exercise that right, contact support@ebokio.com.

7. Plan Downgrade, Non-Payment, and Retention of Content

7.1 If you cancel a paid Subscription Plan, if it lapses, or if a renewal payment fails, your Publisher Account will move to the Free Plan at the end of the billing period for which you have already paid. When your account moves to the Free Plan:

(a) your royalty rate reverts to seventy per cent (70%) of Net Receipts for sales occurring after the change takes effect, and your AI Tool allowances, cover variations, and author-profile limits revert to Free Plan levels;

(b) you keep all Works you have already published — they remain listed and available for sale — and you keep your existing author profiles. Nothing in this clause removes your Works or closes your account by reason only of the move to the Free Plan;

(c) the Free Plan’s thirty (30) published-Work limit applies only to the publishing of new Works. Where you already hold more than thirty (30) published Works, those Works remain available, but you will not be able to publish additional Works until your number of published Works falls below the limit or you upgrade to a paid plan again; and

(d) you keep the story bibles, outlines, and other Writing Studio content you have already created, and you may continue to view and export it; however, the Writing Studio is not included in the Free Plan, so you will not be able to use Muse, generate character portraits, or create new Writing Studio content until you upgrade to a paid plan again; and

(e) Buyers who have already purchased your Works are not affected and continue to enjoy the rights described in clause 14.4 of the Publisher Agreement.

7.2 Your ownership of your Works, and your continued access to Works you have already published and to your author profiles, do not depend on any paid Subscription Plan and are not affected by a move to the Free Plan or by non-payment of subscription fees.

8. Changes to Plans

8.1 EBOKIO may change plan features, allowances, or fees in accordance with the amendments procedure in the EBOKIO Terms of Service and clause 15 of the Publisher Agreement. Any change to recurring subscription fees will take effect from your next renewal, and EBOKIO will give you advance notice and an opportunity to cancel before the change takes effect.

9. Relationship with Other EBOKIO Policies

9.1 This Policy forms part of the EBOKIO Publisher Agreement and must be read together with it and with the EBOKIO Terms of Service.

9.2 Payouts of accrued royalties, including the available withdrawal methods and the minimum payout thresholds, are governed by clause 7.4 of the Publisher Agreement.

9.3 Customer refunds, cancellations, and remedies for Works purchased by readers are governed by the EBOKIO Refund and Returns Policy. This Policy governs only your publisher subscription with EBOKIO.

9.4 Saved payment methods, card storage, and recurring billing are governed by clause 10.7 of the EBOKIO Terms of Service.

10. Governing Law

10.1 This Policy and any non-contractual obligations arising out of or in connection with it shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer rights that apply under the laws of your country of residence. Nothing in this Policy excludes or limits any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted under applicable law.

10.2 Any dispute arising out of or in connection with this Policy is subject to the jurisdiction provisions set out in clause 26 of the EBOKIO Terms of Service, including the rights preserved there for consumers to rely on mandatory local law and to bring proceedings in the courts of their country of residence.

11. Contact

11.1 For questions about your subscription, billing, or this Policy, please contact EBOKIO at support@ebokio.com.

11.2 Complaints. If you are dissatisfied with a decision about your subscription, billing, or a refund, you may escalate it in writing to legal@ebokio.com, and EBOKIO will review the matter and respond within a reasonable period, as set out in clause 27 of the EBOKIO Terms of Service. Data-protection questions may be sent to privacy@ebokio.com. Nothing in this clause affects your right to bring court proceedings, or to complain to a competent consumer, regulatory, or supervisory body.
