About Ebokio Publishing
Ebokio Publishing is a UK self-publishing platform for ebooks. Authors upload a manuscript as EPUB or DOCX, a human reviewer checks it, and it goes on sale as a product page in the Ebokio digital bookshop at ebokio.com. Authors keep their rights, the listing is never exclusive, and they earn 70%, 80%, or 90% of net receipts depending on their plan.
The company
Ebokio is an independent company based in London. It runs two connected sites: publishing.ebokio.com, the author platform where books are written, uploaded, reviewed and managed, and ebokio.com, the bookshop where readers browse, buy, and read them in the Ebokio reader. We make money two ways and only two ways: the platform's share of each sale (the 30%, 20% or 10% the author does not keep) and the optional Premium and Pro subscriptions. We do not sell author services, we do not charge to publish, and we never take rights.

- Where books are sold
- On ebokio.com only. Ebokio is a retailer-platform, not a distributor to other stores — authors stay free to sell everywhere else.
What we are, and what we are not
We are the place a book lives after it is written: the storefront, the payments, the reader, the royalty ledger, and the discovery engine that puts it in front of the right readers. We are not a vanity press, not an aggregator, and not a print-on-demand service. If you want paperback distribution to high-street shops, you will pair Ebokio with a print service — our guides say so plainly, because an honest comparison is worth more to an author than a flattering one.
Who writes here
Guides are signed by the editorial team or by a named person; blog posts carry the author who wrote them. These are the people behind the bylines:
- Khalil Jalal — CEO & Founder, Ebokio PublishingCEO and founder of Ebokio — the digital bookshop and the self-publishing platform behind it. Leads the product end to end: the bookshop readers buy from, the publishing platform authors sell through, and the Writing Studio they write in.
- Mustapha Benarousse — Founder, Ebokio PublishingFounder of Ebokio Publishing and the Ebokio bookshop. Writes about self-publishing from the operator's side of the platform — the review queue, the royalty ledger, payouts, and the tools authors actually use day to day.
- Ebokio Publishing editorial team — Editorial teamThe Ebokio Publishing editorial team writes and maintains these guides from inside the platform: the people who review submitted manuscripts, run the royalty and payout ledger, and answer author support. Every figure about Ebokio comes from the live product; every figure about another platform is sourced and dated.
How our guides are written and checked
The guides on this site are produced by the editorial team — the people who review submitted manuscripts, run the payout ledger, and answer author support — and they follow four rules:
- Ebokio figures come from the live product. Royalty rates, prices, payout dates and review times are checked against the platform before a guide is published, and the guide is updated when the terms change.
- Every claim about another platform is sourced and dated. Where we quote a competitor's royalty, fee or distribution reach, the guide links to the page it came from and says when it was last checked.
- Ebokio is disclosed wherever it appears. In comparisons and "best of" lists we say which product is ours, describe it as a single-store platform rather than a distributor, and do not rank it above services that do things we do not.
- Writing tools may help draft; a person signs off. A member of the team reviews every guide before it goes live, and every guide carries a visible author, a publish date and an update date. Corrections go to support@ebokio.com and are fixed in place.
